John Forrestal, 19, started out modestly, recording his own music and his friends' music in the basement of his Edison, N.J., home.

Over the past seven years, thanks to word of mouth and the Internet, his work has expanded to recording other artists -- for money.

"You can go into a professional studio for a two- to three-song demo and spend several thousands of dollars, and I can do the same thing for a hundred bucks or so," Forrestal said.

Richard A. Hunt, 67, always wanted to operate his own business, using his talents.  The result is a recording studio, apparently the only one in Olive Branch open to the public. Up to eight people at a time can record their music in a room completely padded by carpet.

“What we will be doing is not done elsewhere in Ontario, not even Toronto,” said Bruhmuller, 37, a Sudbury musician, recording engineer and owner of Easter Island Studios since 1997.

“We will be allowing individuals and groups to make their own live performance DVDs for musical performances, comedy acts, theatre, even information shows or talk shows, all of professional quality,” said Bruhmuller.

For as little as $20, amateurs who have fun playing together on weekends over beers, will be able to make a three-song CD that they can put on their Facebook sites, said Bruhmuller.
